Kay K. McGovern
Kay K. McGovern,
CVR-CM, a native of Florida, has been a freelance court reporter since 1982.
She was co-owner of Precision Reporting and Transcribing, Inc. until 1990, at which time she formed Capital Litigation
Support, Inc. and its d/b/a, Kay McGovern & Associates.
Ms. McGovern’s reporting experience includes depositions in all types of civil
litigation. She has extensive experience reporting meetings and hearings of the
North Carolina State Board of Elections, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, the North Carolina Department
of Insurance, and the North Carolina Banking Commission. Ms. McGovern is a specialist
in technical and scientific matters, having reported meetings of the Technical Reports Review Subcommittee/Board of Scientific
Counselors (NIEHS/NIH) since the mid-1990s. She regularly serves as a substitute
reporter in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Ms. McGovern has also provided
student transcripts on a pro bono basis for the UNC School of Law.
Ms. McGovern is a nationally certified court reporter, having earned the designation
of Certified Verbatim Reporter (CVR) in 1984 and the Certificate of Merit in 1985 from the National Verbatim Reporters Association. She was the NVRA National Speed Champion in 1999.
For the past 15 years, Ms. McGovern has served in leadership roles in professional
organizations at both the national and state level. She is a former officer and
director of the National Verbatim Reporters Association and currently serves on the NVRA Testing Committee. She is the 2004 recipient of the Horace Webb Award for service to the reporting profession. She is an honorary member, charter member, and past president of the North Carolina Verbatim Reporters
Association and currently serves as the NCVRA treasurer.
Ms.
McGovern has a B.A. from Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina and an M.A. from the University of Florida. She
lives in Raleigh with her husband, Robert Rohde. They enjoy fly and spin fishing, traveling, and outdoor activities

Carolyn M. Kleitsch
Carolyn
M. Kleitsch, CVR is a native of Ohio who has lived in Raleigh since 1978. She has been an employee of
Kay McGovern & Associates since 1997 and has been a staff reporter since 2004. Her
reporting experience includes depositions in all types of civil litigation. Ms.
Kleitsch is a nationally certified court reporter. She earned the Certified Verbatim
Reporter designation, conferred by the National Verbatim Reporters Association, in 2004.
Ms.
Kleitsch is an active member of the National Verbatim Reporters Association. In
addition, she has assumed leadership roles in the North Carolina Verbatim Reporters Association, having served as secretary
in 2004-2005. She is currently a member of the NCVRA Board of Directors.
Ms. Kleitsch has also provided student transcripts on a pro bono basis for the UNC School of Law.
Ms.
Kleitsch attended North Carolina State University from 1986 to 1989. She completed
her court reporter training in 2003 at Atlanta Peach Court Reporting School, a school approved by the State of Georgia Post-Secondary
Education Commission and endorsed by the National Verbatim Reporters Association. She
lives in Raleigh with her husband, Andrew W. Kleitsch II, and their three children.
She enjoys cheering for her youngest daughter at competitive gymnastic meets around the state, crafting, and going

Alexandra H. Hartman
Alexandra
H. Hartman, CVR, a West Virginia native, has been a staff reporter with Kay McGovern & Associates since 1994. Her reporting experience includes depositions in all types of civil litigation. She has extensive experience reporting meetings and hearings at the North Carolina
Banking Commission. She regularly serves as a substitute court reporter for the
United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Ms. Hartman has also provided student transcripts
on a pro bono basis for the UNC School of Law.

Hartman has a B.S. from West Virginia University. She lives in Raleigh with her
husband, Robert J. Hartman. She enjoys gardening, walking, traveling, and reading

Ann F. Edwards
Ann F.
Edwards, a native of Seaboard, North Carolina, has been an employee of Kay McGovern & Associates since 1994. She has extensive transcript preparation and proofreading experience in all types
of civil litigation, including depositions, transcripts in domestic cases for the North Carolina Court of Appeals, federal
trial and state court hearing transcripts, and meetings of the Technical Reports Review Subcommittee/Board of Scientific Counselors (NIEHS/NIH).
Ms. Edwards graduated from Northeast Academy, Hardbarger Business College, and attended North
Carolina State University. Her previous career experience includes employment at law firms in Raleigh.
Ms. Edwards lives in Wake Forest with her husband, Darryl Edwards, and enjoys horseback
riding in her leisure time.
Debbie Bardsley
Debbie
Bardsley, a native of Michigan, has been a production assistant with Kay McGovern & Associates since 1992. She has extensive transcript preparation and proofreading experience in all types
of civil litigation, including depositions, federal trial and state court hearing transcripts, and transcripts of meetings of the Technical Reports Review Subcommittee/Board of Scientific
Counselors (NIEHS/NIH).
Ms.
Bardsley’s previous career experience includes administrative positions in the legal, human resources, and financial
fields. She has a B.A. from the University of Michigan and a paralegal certification
from Meredith College.
Ms. Bardsley
currently lives in Traverse City, Michigan, with her husband, Richard Bardsley, and their son. She enjoys mentoring
in the Traverse City Kids Hope program, teaching Sunday school, snowshoeing, golfing, and reading in her leisure time.
